Israel Lachovsky Antiques grew out of a passion for collecting. Growing up in Montreal, visiting the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, I was fascinated by how the ancient Greeks and Romans could breathe life into cold stone marble. We had a modest amount of original art at home, and some old chalk wall hangings.
After relocating to Calgary, I worked primarily in Calgary's "oil patch" as an energy sector accountant. A relationship breakup led me to fill my spare time investigating Calgary's fine art scene. One thing led to another and in addition to partnering in a modern Art Gallery here, I dressed my walls with exciting local art.
As the collecting bug was by then well entrenched, and, I had run out of walls, I had to feed my desire for artistic form & beauty. Add a sprinkle of the old, the thrill of the hunt and the joy of bargaining, and presto, I became a voracious buyer of the old, of antiques. And, as happens to many, a collector becomes a vendor, and I set up shop in a local antiques mall, did shows and sold privately.
Well, now, years later, I find myself at a stage in Life where I want to simplify and I'm ready to share my treasures with others and have them go to new homes. Yours!
If you want to add some spice to your environment, I may have just the thing for you. There are sculptures, clocks, lamps, writing items and much more to temp.
